What's new for the 2020 Lexus RX RX 450h F SPORT
The Lexus RX gets a mild refresh for the 2020 model year. The front end and grille of the RX has been revised with slimmer headlamps and a more complex grille pattern. At the back of the vehicle, the rear taillights have also been redesigned and the rear tailgate can now be operated via "kicking" under the back bumper. Other updates for 2020 include standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as an improved suite of electronic safety devices. New standard safety tech includes a daytime bicyclist detection system and a low-light pedestrian detection system.
Model Highlights
The Lexus RX comes with one of two different powertrains. The RX 350 is powered by a smooth 3.5L V6 engine and produces 295 horsepower. With this engine, 60 mph arrives in under eight seconds, and the RX 350 achieves 28 mpg on the highway in front-wheel drive trim. The RX 450h combines a traditional gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total of 308 horsepower. Highway fuel economy climbs as high as 30 mpg for the front-wheel-drive models. The only transmission available is an 8-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive is optional on either version of the RX.
Both the RX 350 and the RX 450h are also available in both F SPORT guise and three row RXL guise. F SPORT versions further enhance both the interior and exterior styling, while also tightening up the handling. Interestingly, the RXL shares it's wheelbase with the two row version of the RX, meaning it should be similarly maneuverable. However, it is a few inches longer and the roofline slopes less steeply to create just a bit more headroom for rear seat passengers.
The F SPORT adds an 8-inch LCD display instrument cluster, unique quilted seats, adjustable suspension, interior aluminum trim accents and drilled aluminum pedals. Outside, the F SPORT gets a blacked-out grill, plus exclusive 20-inch wheels.
Available safety features across the RX include the Lexus Safety System+, a Pre-Collision forward collision and pedestrian detection system, a Lane Departure Alert, Vehicle Sway Warning, a rear view camera, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with traffic stop-go and Intelligent High Beam automatic LED headlights.
